Thien h. vu, DDS, Magd
As the past president of the Northern CA Academy of General Dentistry (NCAGD) board and advisor to both local dental schools (UCSF, UOP), Dr. Vu mentors young dentists and even older dentists in developing their dental skills and knowledge. She is a member on the Dental Board of California peer review committee, serving as their Subject Matter Expert (SME). She achieved the "Master of the Academy of General Dentistry" (MAGD) title, an exemplary achievement for general dentists. With over 1,200 hours of continuing dental education and passing a comprehensive exam, there are approximately only 400 actively practicing Masters out of a population of over 22,000 general dentists in CA. She is also the resident dentist for multiple nursing homes in the area. She works with sleep doctors to provide the the alternative dental appliance device for sleep apnea.
Dr. Vu received her dental degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She went on to complete her General Practice Residency at UCSF-Fresno University Medical Center in Fresno, CA. Upon completion, she volunteered with the United Way Foundation in Florida. She became the first dental director for the Citrus County Public Health Dept. in Inverness, FL. She trained with multiple dental and medical organizations for adult sedation and hypnosis. Furthermore, she completed her pediatric sedation mini-residency at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Dr. Vu received the American Academy of Pediatrics Healthy Kids Tomorrow grant of $250,000 to start a sedation clinic for the special needs youth population. She worked with multiple health organizations to increase dental health awareness and provide access to dental care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Vu has received many awards and recognitions for her strengths in academic achievements, community services, leadership skills, and charity work. She is knowledgeable in American Sign Language (ASL), Vietnamese and dental Spanish. On her off-time, she is a foster mom to dogs in shelters. She enjoys reading, yoga, some outdoor activities, being around families and friends, and of course, peace and quiet.
