This patient moved to CA about 19 years ago. He was referred to the office by a colleague. I've been his only dentist since. He's so lively and funny through the years. He's going on to be 95 y.o. I wish I still have my wits like his at 80, much less 95.
Our office went black all of a sudden. The patient said there was a fire down the street. We finished up the appointment early, walked out the building and this is what we saw. So far, 2 homes were damaged and one fireman was treated for heat exhaustion. No other reports were provided but it started in the attic.
Scary. But so glad everyone is safe as all 4 adults in both homes were safe, as were their dogs. So when a patient who doesn't like to sit in your chair but has agreed to complain less while she's in the office, what do you do? You accommodate her needs to get the job done even if it kills your back for the rest of the day. You also change the music so you can talk to her about her musical interest and ignore the pain that is developing in your twisted neck. Then an hour later, you get the most appreciative thank you from the family. But, when the patient tells you, "Okay, I'll come back to see you again." Kinda makes the back bending worth it. Good thing I do yoga.
I love Japanese food. So when the Obon came around...you know where I'll be. One of my colleagues was performing so I came to cheer her on. It was such a fun and belly happy event. So much...no, too much food. Luckily we had to park far away to walk some of it off. That's my older sister, people. I already know she looks younger so no need to tell me. She's a fun person to hang out with. It was just the 2 of us all day. We texted my younger sister to rub it in because she loves the Japanese culture and would have been in the dance performance had she been in town. Even in our old age, we're still poking at each other for fun. Being goofy...trying to pose in front of some stranger's car because my sister told me to.
